The Ball Room Projects creative directors Cat Sewell and Nancy Sposato started collaborating in 2004.
In the beginning we asked ourselves, “What sort of performing arts work do we want to see in the world?” What we came up with resembled a visually evocative playground in which you could discover intimate performances as you explored the space.
Our work continues to be sparked by a sense of play and curiosity.
Through the City of Melbourne’s ArtPlay New Ideas initiative we consolidated our thinking into our debut performance experience, The Ball Room.
The work premiered at Darebin Art’s Loud Mouth with a sold out season.
We continue to present large-scale interactive installation/theatre events as spin-offs from our major production, including The Way at ArtPlay as part of Melbourne Moomba Festival, attracting over 1000 visitors over 3 days.
